A look at how AI innovation is taking shape across Axway MFT

AI innovation in MFT starts with a practical and open foundation. SecureTransport, Transfer CFT and Workbench now support MCP servers in read-only mode, allowing customers to connect the AI assistants, large language models and agents already approved within their organisations. This approach gives customers access to MFT context without requiring them to deploy or assess an additional Axway-provided AI model. They can ask questions, investigate operational events and derive useful insights and recommendations, while the AI remains unable to make changes to the MFT environment.

Turning MFT expertise into practical AI

We are continuously experimenting with how AI will make MFT easier to operate, troubleshoot and support. One important area is applying AI to Axway’s extensive product documentation, knowledge base and support content. Making this expertise easier for AI tools to interpret will help users understand errors, investigate incidents and find relevant guidance faster. We are also exploring how AI will bring together operational signals from across an MFT environment, explain failures in natural language, identify unusual behaviour and highlight emerging risks before they affect critical business processes. These capabilities build on the visibility, health information and operational context already available across Axway MFT.

Innovation shaped by real-world needs

Our work does not happen in isolation. We speak with customers to understand where AI will remove genuine operational friction and deliver measurable value. We also engage with industry analysts to test our thinking against the wider direction of the market. These conversations help us distinguish between short-lived AI novelty and the capabilities that will make MFT operations safer, simpler and more effective over the long term.

Giving our teams the freedom to create

Some of the strongest ideas come from the people who build, support and work with MFT every day. Through internal AI hackathons, we challenge teams from across the MFT product line to turn their ideas into working prototypes. Teams develop their concepts, demonstrate what they have built and explain the customer or business problem it addresses. The strongest ideas are recognised, but the wider value comes from the process itself. It gives our teams space to experiment, builds practical AI knowledge across the organisation and uncovers innovations that can help shape future product decisions. By combining open AI connectivity, customer-led discovery and hands-on experimentation, Axway is turning AI from a broad technology trend into practical innovation for MFT.

We know we’re not alone in looking at these projects to improve MFT. Any MFT vendor worth its salt is investing time and effort to introduce innovation into what has long been regarded as a comparatively unexciting business solution.
